Love stories that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside are usually the kind of stuff that movies are made of.
In this era of short lived relationships, lies riddled with shocking tales of deception and cheating to find young people in a relationship and devoted to each other is a breath of fresh Air.
Introduce Yourself to Our Readers?
AWA – My name is Awakhiwe Sibanda but on stage I am known as A.W.A (African Women Arise)Im a tribal hip hop female emcee from Bulawayo.Im a 23 year old student. My solo album (Voices Of Women) will be released soon. Its hip hop mixed with a tribal feel. Most of the songs on the album are about the struggles that women go through in life.As one of the few women in the hip hop industry i felt the need to be the voice of all the voiceless women going through domestic violence, teenage pregnancies, rape and many other struggles. In a nutshell its hip hop for all ears, with women in mind.
Psyko –Psyko Tektoni Stems from that mind business, eversince i started writing at young age,my verses were specifically designed to free the mind, mental emancipation, conquering the battles of the mind..Positive thinking basically.Thats what brought out my name,it actualy means SHAKING A SLEEPING MIND TO AWARENESS!!…its sounds crazy but thats me..
My presense in HIP Hop movement began on street cyphers with a Clique called Psycho Phonics and i was the youngest in that crew..that was 2007 though we managed to survive mentaly through that struggle by art Then Later i joined Forces with Black Phar- I and we formed Digital Rebelz,we worked on an EP that flooded through out the hip hop community and people liked it.
In 2012 thats when i droped an album titled TALES OF A CYPHERNAUT,inspired by hip hop circles i went through,it got sold mostly when i went on a tour to Germany, Berlin to represent Zimbabwe,i collaborated with the most influential Dj in Europe called Andi Teichmann and the Puppet MastaZ.
It was a great fusion of art and skills,,,,ive been through hip hop events and festivals like shoko,,and ive also collaborated and shared stage with big dedicated artists like Blak Twang and Silverstone from( London Uk)..stay tuned…the track i did with them is coming out soon
HOW DID YOU MEET?
AWA- We met at a project called the Makokoba project where artists from U.K were collaborating with local artists.Psyko and I collaborated the first day we met.We worked on a track titled “Actualise” with McFallacy from U.K.After the collaboration we travelled together to Harare to perform at the Shoko Festival 2015.We fell for each other on stage. The mic he was using had a fault and we had to share a mic and we had to share my microphone.Since we shared the mic that night we have shared everything, the stage, verses, choruses, strengths, weaknesses, joys and sorrows.
IT IS BELIEVED PEOPLE IN A RELATIONSHIP CANNOT WORK TOGETHER HOW HAVE YOU OVERCOME THAT?
AWA–Its true, many relationships usually don’t work.We have came this far because we flow…lol not literally but i mean it happens effortlessly. We met at an arts event so our love for arts strengthens our relationship. We have a lot in common. We are both passionate about arts so we dont really draw the line between business and pleasure but we have pleasure in doing business.
We have a lot in common, thats what creates a bond in us and we have similar ideas and goals like they say “Great Minds Think Alike”….

A.W.A TELL US ABOUT YOUR STAGE DRESS CODE?
AWA–I always wear an African attire when I’m perfoming because that is the image i want to portray.I want to take hip hop back to my roots.I want people to learn more about my culture.
Everywhere I go people ask me about my tribe and my roots.Young people nowadays focus on modernity and forget to preserve our Zimbabwean culture. Another reason why i wear the attire(besides looking good lol)is that it makes my acts unpredictable.People ussually expect me to dance or sing and the audience is wowed when I rap.
