He is known as Prince the Red Bee in the Bulawayo hip-hop scenes. His rap journey started when he was only nine years old. This exquisite rapper was inspired by legends like Guru and 2pac.He chose hip-hop music because it was close to his two favourite hobbies music and poetry.
The Red Bee recorded his first track in 2003 it was called“Self-esteem”. “I have always believed in myself with no doubt”, said the Red Bee. To date this rap King has recorded countless mixtapes. “Work hard be patient love what you are doing always”.
On the album he has worked with some of Bulawayo’s Youth music legends like Spinx and Skwib. The Red says the album will feature some of the hottest musicians from the city of kings. When asked about the growth of hip-hop and music in Zimbabwe, he said “hip-hop/music is growing slow because we do not support local music and I`m starting to hate mixtapes”.
Despite the mixtape beats being part of the hip-hop culture, The Bee says the use of international beats by local rappers is killing creativity in Zimbabwe and killing producers who make beats in Zimbabwe.
The rapper/producer highlighted that there are a lot of locally high quality cheap produced beats but rappers prefer international free used beats. He says that they is need for the local musicians to develop their own flavour and mentioned that as long as this trend of using international beats continues to grow, an original sound in Zimbabwe hip-hop will not be achieved.
Locally this young musician says he would like collaborate with The Living Legend Oliver Mtukudzi in Zimbabwe and internationally he like to work with Casseper Nyovest in South Africa and Kendrick Lamar in USA. “I`m going to be one of the greatest musician/producer”.
He parting words to anyone pursuing anything were “Work hard be patient love what you are doing always”.
