Chicken Inn Football club have extended their lead in the Castle lager premier league after dismissing ZPC Kariba by two goals, to one. The game cocks are the title contenders leading the pack with 46 points, a clear 5 points from the second placed ‘Platinum miners’ FC Platinum.
“Pure Platinum Play” proved to that ‘glamour’ does not apply to their syllabus of mining, as they beat the Glamour Boys 3-1 at Mandava Stadium, in Zvishavane. Goals from Gift Bello and the Zambian International Obrie Chirwa saw Norman Mapeza and his charges dislodge Dynamos on the second sport of the log standings and putting pressure to the log leaders Chicken Inn. The win took them to 13 matches unbeaten and a first win against Dynamos in Mandava.
Highlanders travelled to Harare and were given a run for their money by the City Fathers who could not fathom the idea of losing at their back yard. A poor start in office for Cosmos Zulu and his technical team. The tables seem to have turned, as the supporters want the Executive out of office, as opposed to what was the norm, firing coaches whenever the team was performing below par.
Highlanders find themselves at the bottom half of the log, which is unusual and a taboo to the Bulawayo football community.
In a surprise package, Tsholotsho FC proved that records can be broken at any time as they beat How Mine 2-1, at White City Stadium. “Iziqholo ze Zhwane” , recorded their first win at home after a long dry spell of victories at their home ground.
A repeat of Tapuwa Kapini and Witnes Munkuli incident at National Sports Stadium few years back took place at White City proving that even in the world of football history repeats itself. This time around it was Nickel Marichi beating his counterpart, a former Bosso, Munyaradzi Diya.
At National Sports Stadium Soul Chaminuka proved to be more tactical than his counterpart Lloyd Chitembwe, as Buffaloes drew nil all with a barren Caps United squard. The draw saw Caps United surviving losing three points after Buffaloes had a goal disallowed. It was the first game for Lloyd after taking the reigns from Mark Mathe.
The Sugar boys had a chance to further parry Dynamos to fourth place down the log, but their day wasn’t “sweet as sugar”, as they recorded a draw away at Ascot Stadium-home of Whawha Fc- which saw them to moving 33 points.
Flame Lily who are visiting Bulawayo this week managed to collect the much needed three points at home –Lafarge Stadium after beating the ‘coal miners’ 1-0. “Flamer Bora” will hope to collect a point or better from the ailing Bulawayo giants at Barbour fields Stadium come Thursday.
