Zimbabwean Designers to showcase at Ekurhuleni Fashion Festival in SA

It’s always great seeing Zimbabwean Designers pushing boundaries and showcasing their works outside the country. This year, 3 Zimbabwean designers will be showcasing at this year’s Ekurhuleni Fashion Festival to be held in Germiston, Johannesburg in South Africa. The 3 that will be flying the #ZimFashion Flag are Thembani Mubochwa, Tapfumanei Munenge & The Heralds by Ara Kani who were selected from the Intwasa Fashion Show 2014 & 2015, respectively. The Ekurhuleni Fashion Festival will be held from the 23rd to the 25th of October in South Africa.Tapfumanei MunengeEkurhuleni Fashion Festival is a signature yearly event showcasing the most prestigious fashion brands of the home grown. Most of the designers showcasing are South African, the 3 Zimbabwean designers are some of the few invited guests from outside South Africa. Their selection is facilitated by Hunnar Management Agency which produces Zimbabwe’s Intwasa Fashion Show, in partnership with South Africa’s Azzura. The Heralds by Ara KaniTafpumanei Munenge who has showcased at the Zimbabwe Fashion Week and Soweto Fashion Week was a guest designer at last year’s Intwasa Fashion Show. This year his garments were used on the models that were part of the Intwasa Fashion Show campaign and this led to him being spotted by the organisers of Ekurhuleni who sent a representative to attend the event at AMTEC. Thembani MubochwaConversely, Thembani Mubochwa who showcased his menswear bespoke collection at the Intwasa Fashion Show will be showcasing an elegant collection at the Ekurhuleni Fashion Festival. The Vodacom Durban July award winning Durban based designer has an outstanding touch to his garments with the Cast of Generations having worn his clothes. Joining him is the young duo, Thobekile Zondo and Gift Tsingano who have been under the mentorship of Nkululeko Ncube, the Head Designer of Ara Kani. They recently debuted their collection from their mentorship programme at the Intwasa Fashion Show & were one of the favourite collections of the night. The Heralds by Ara Kani will be showcasing their Spring/Summer Collection 2016 in South Africa.

The 3 will be accompanied by Hunnar Management Agency representative, William Fred & Zimbabwe’s Style Icon/Socialite – Mbo Mahocs and 3 models selected from Intwasa Fashion Show 2015. South Africa’s top entertainment personality, Dj Sbu will feature at the event in South Africa.
