This week we feature a House-Kwasa artist born Boipelo Mogwera in the village of Disaneng in Mafikeng South Africa, Chomza an energatic vocalist and dancer. We had the priviledge to get into detail on her florishing career, it has been truly an adventure.

5star: Let’s get right into it! In brief who is Chomza?
Chomza: My name is Boipelo Mogwera. I got the name Chomza from my surname Mogwera which means a friend. I grew up in a village called Disaneng in Mafikeng. I’m a first born in my family.
5star: When and how did your music career start?
Chomza: I started out as a dancer in 2009 with a group from Botswana. In 2011 I recorded my first album. Before 2009 I was doing traditional music with a group called Dipotata.
5star: Remarkable, Which song gave you the break into the music industry?
Chomza: My first album did very well. I introduced House-Kwasa in S.A and the song that people liked so much is called Malome Ntlogele.
5star: Malome Ntlogele is a catchy title on its own. How many albums have you recorded to date?
Chomza: I have two albums. The first one was released in 2011 and the second one in 2014.
5star: Any big names you have shared stage with? Chomza: There are so many on them. I’ve shared stage with Kelly khumalo, KB Motsilenyane, Casper Nyovest, KO, Bhudaza, Malaika, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Khuli Chana, HHP, Tuks Senganga, Fifi Cooper and many others.
5star: Wow! That’s a list of serious musicians right there. This is really impressive. Which one moment do you consider to be the most memorable moment in you career?
Chomza: One memorable moment is me going outside Africa and performing in Europe. I went to Switzerland in 2011 and then to Finland last year.
5star: Any notable collerborations so far?
Chomza: In my second album I worked with Dr Tawanda, I featured him on my song called Re Kopa Tshwarelo and also Martin Khupe here in S.A on a song called Motho Wame.
5star: Any upcoming project that your fans should expect?
Chomza: Yes! I’ll be recording my third album around June this year and I’m gonna collaborate with many artists from Zimbabwe and South Africa.
5star: Which artist do you regard as your music idol?
Chomza: I love Beyonce so much, I’m her biggest fan. She’s an inspiration.
5star: What’s your worst expirience in the music industry?
Chomza: Piracy is the worst thing, and also someone tryng to copy me and take all my songs as if its me and the law doesn’t do anything about it. It makes me angry!
5star: Which artists would you love to work with in the near future?
Chomza: I would like to work with artists from Zimbabwe and Botswana with the help of my producers Tawanda and Martin.
5star: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Chomza: A prosperous business woman. A music producer. Having my record label!
5star: What are your words of encouragement to upcoming artists?
