The organisers were not sure how the comedy session would turn out. Rural communities are generally conservative yet comedians sometimes know no diplomacy. But at the end it turned out just fine. Ntando Van Moyo, Mandla Simbarashe and Owen acquitted themselves very well and kept Matobo villagers laughing out loud! The jokes were relevant to the local context and the three acts had strong audience engagement.
The rationale of the partnership with Umahlekisa Comedy Club was to take comedy to rural communities and use the outreach as a platform to identify rural based comedians. In good time we will be bringing Matobo comedians to perform in Bulawayo and beyond. After the comedy show we went mountain climbing and had Braai in the Rocks.
