Mlom’Wakho Poetry Slam will, on the 22nd of April, 2016 host a Two-Man Poetry Slam: that is a poetry contest between two renowned poets. The event will be held at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, starting at 6pm at US$5.
The Poets; namely Bhekumusa Moyo(The Protest Poet) & Tswarelo Mothobe(Scribe The Healer) will go head on in a one on one, one hour poetry show that will speak on various aspects of themes derived from each poets subject matter through their poetry. This show will touch on topics such as Pan-Africanism vs. Good Governance, White Privilege vs. Tribal Privilege, Corruption, Black Consciousness, Socio-Political & Economic issues, etc.
Being the first event of this type to take place in the history of poetry in the country, Mlom’Wakho Poetry Slams vision is assume the leading role in freedom of expression through poetry development in Bulawayo, Matabeleland and Zimbabwe as a whole. The ultimate goal is to host a Poetry Festival in Bulawayo with an alternative approach, voice and format to the norm.
