Zimbabwe’s rising Hiphop queen,AWA is in London for Voices Of The Revolution which is running for its fifth year.
The event is bringing together an inspirational line up of all-female musicians from Ghana, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Colombia, Bangladesh, Rwanda, Venezuela, Egypt and the UK, to collaborate, create and perform with each other.
They will be under the musical direction of Errollyn Wallen, the UK’s first black female composer for the Proms. They will perform together collectively as ‘Voices of the Revolution’.
African Women Arise (AWA) Is one zim’s finest female rapper who has of late been pushing her work to the max.AWA raps about women’s rights, gender based violence and the political struggle in Zimbabwe.
The female emcee has shared the stage with artists like Rodney P (UK), Mc Fallacy (UK), Hip Hop Pantsula (South Africa) and Digital Rebels (Zimbabwe) among many others.
She is set to perform at 3 mega festivals in the UK, and all events are all female perfomances.
The Bulawayo born Emcee announced her trip to UK on her Facebook page and showed her excitement on being part of the event. AWA is currently on rehersal with all the Ladies who are part of the project.
