Plumtree – Amagugu International Heritage Centre conducted a dance training workshop at Madabe Primary School in Plumtree last Friday. The project which was part of the Strengthening Local Cultural Policy in Zimbabwe Project was spearheaded by UNESCO.

The workshop was led by Bulawayo-based Sunduza Dance Ensemble, the dance workshop focused on the muchongoyo dance, which is the national school’s dance for the year 2017 and 2018.

The Sunduza team taught the learners muchongoyo dance routines, drumming techniques as well as songs associated with the muchongoyo dance. The workshop sought to prepare Madabe Primary School dance group for the Jikinya Dance Festival set for November 2017.
