There has been a lot of debate on what an artist manager is in the modern day industry and today I’ll be sharing with you my evaluations and opinion on this matter. Come along!!!
There are certain fundamentals that an artist manager must know in this era, they must understand that the traditional Record Business has slowly been phased out by technology. Gone are the day’s people would be excited about buying a CD or DvD.
Mind you they still do buy but the rate is an overwhelming landslide. With this in mind Managers should STOP viewing artists as COMMODITIES. Managers should understand the fact that an Artist is a stand alone business that should generate income from different revenue streams.
Managers ought also to move away from the notion that record sales are the key indicators of success for the artist. Instead of hunting down record deals for the artist managers should use an innovative investor oriented approach in which instead on focusing on direct rights exploitation and record sales they create a market for investors to put their money, where artists retain the rights and investors participate in the profits.
