The 2017 edition of the Zim Hip hop awards were held on Saturday at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music in Bulawayo. The award ceremony was more of a replica of the 2016 edition which was symbolic of a clown-less circus.

With Bulawayo recently hosting one of the most talked about awards this year, having such a not-so-good event in its back yard was an insult to its creatives. For the sake of sanity and honesty the awards were a non-event and were more of a prize-giving ceremony by Beefy Harrison.
- Sound cut off during the award ceremony it was annoying and disruptive. If it was not for the creativity of The Boy Asaph and Cal_vin to fill in, a worse review could be in the books.Even our local bars and pubs have better sound than that of the night.
2.Event reeked of disorder became a social event for artists to meet and greet.
3.During the event, organizers were busy looking and searching for Award presenters/announcers, comrades its 2017 who does that in the last hour.
4.Stage graphics We will not dare to even call it a Bulawayo standard for an award ceremony, Ace Lounge or Pub Lagondola have better graphics. By the way do disco lights count as stage graphics?
5. Like honestly, why a Lionsgate background on the projected screen? Was Lionsgate sponsoring? Were they a partner for the awards? Did they fail to have #ZHHA17 backdrop and have live twitter feeds showing on the background, that would have been better and more appealing.
6. Disorder and no reservation of seats for nominees, when entering we were told ushers will show us were to sit but once inside Dololo ushers.
7. Milling around of artists around the main entrance to venue and event hall. No sense of order or resemblance of order, maybe to them the chaos represented order; one never knows.
The Zim Hip Hop awards have been running for the past seven years and having such technical problems is uncalled for.
