Born Sizani Mdlongwa, Siza is a Bulawayo based singer and songwriter who  has a passion for music. The 30 year old gospel musician claims that  he was born a musician and as a child, this often got him into trouble.

His music career however began in 2012 when he joined different groups and choirs before finally finding his musical home at VocalEx.

Amongst his greatest inspirations, Siza lists Ringo Madlingozi and says his music is largely influenced by Madlingozi.

“The first song I recall ever writing and singing in church (Ungithandil’ uJehova) borrowed largely from Ringo’s style”, he said.

Siza is currently working on an eight track album whose release date is still to be advised.

“Hopefully the world will like it. It is a mixture of different subgenres and 100% good news. The album is entitled “Sabelo Sami” which means the Lord is my portion,” Siza added.

Siza equates his musical work to what preachers do when they are at the pulpit.

“I personally believe that the same way preachers reach out to non-believers, is the same way gospel musicians convey the message to non-believers. I try to write and structure my songs in a way that is entertaining yet still carries the simplicity of the Gospel,” he said.

Only time will tell if Siza will deliver as Bulawayo’s next top  gospel act.
