Week 5 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League roars to life this weekend with football lovers in for a treat. Here are the fixtures for this week.
Harare City vs Bulawayo Chiefs (Rufaro Stadium 1pm)
High flying Bulawayo side, Bulawayo Chiefs will seek to consolidate their rich vein of form when they invade Harare to face the Sunshine Boys in an early kick off at Rufaro Stadium. However it will be a tough task for Amakhosi Amahle as Harare City are yet to taste defeat this season. Its a mouthwatering clash which should be explosive.
ZPC Kariba vs Dynamos(Nyamhunga Stadium)
The battle of the relegation sides is on in Kariba as Dynamos find themselves on an uncharacteristic position on the PSL log this season, traveling to the resort town to face the Electricity man. DeMbare are winless and will be out to gunner their first victory against fellow strugglers Kauya Katuruturu, who have lost four in four. Whoever grabs the three points between the two coaches will be the happiest of the round 5 fixtures.
Bulawayo City vs Black Rhinos(Barbourfields Stadium)
Darlington Dodo’s man are struggling for consistency and will be hard-pressed for victory against an equally stuttering Black Rhinos side. Amakhosi have since roped in Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu, to bolster their technical setup. They boast of one of the premiership`s best holding midfielders Rainsome Pavari and Chipembere will have to neutralize his influence in midfield and will hope Allan Gahadzikwa who is an excellent ball player turns up for the show.
Yadah vs Triangle(NSS)
Triangle are enjoying a new lease of life after a poor start which saw them anchor the log standings. However they have turned the tide and will be out to maintain their two match unbeaten run against Yadah, who themselves have not been doing so well in the league. The Stars are hoping home advantage plays to their favor and collect their second victory of the season.
Ngezi Platinum vs Chicken Inn(Baobab)
Its undoubtedly the biggest round five fixture as the log leaders and the third placed side clash in Mhondoro in a top of the table clash. Ngezi and The Gamecocks are both unbeaten and the encounter ,will be a stern test for Tonderayi Ndiraya’s man,who will be seeking to make it five wins a row. Joey Antipa’s side are a formidable unit that gives very little away. A test of character for both sides is on the offing. Obadiah Tarumbwa and Daryl Nyandoro have been banging them in for Chicken Inn while the imposing Liberty Chakoroma and dribbling wizard Terrence Dzvukamanja have been in fine form for Madamburo.
Caps United vs Herentals(NSS)
After registering their first victory last week, Makepekepe will be hoping that their fortunes have turned around .Herentals are equally buoyant after their thumping 3-1 victory over Rhinos on Good Friday. A bruising battle is on the cards but United will fancy themselves over the College Boys, who are new in the big boys league.
Shabanie Mine vs Mutare City(Maglas)
The Chinda boys started with a bang this season but were given a hiding on Monday in Bulawayo by Chicken Inn. They will be looking to bounce back against a winless Mutare City. By now reality should be dawning on City that in just four matches they are already battling relegation. Victory is now a must to ease their worries but Maglas is the Chinda Boys fortress hence they will have to be at their extreme best to get the maximum points.
Chapungu vs FC Platinum(Ascot)
Ascot Stadium has some fond memories for Pure Platinum play, it was at the same stadium that they won their maiden league title. They will seek to consolidate their premier league form which has seen them drop only two points in four matches. On the other hand Waruwaru are a potential banana skin for the second placed Lizwe Sweswe coached side. It’s the Midlands derby and therefore a thriller is on the cards.
Highlanders v Nichrut(Barbourfields)
Having received their 2018 kit from Roar,Amahlolanyama return to their favorite hunting ground to parade their new black and white stripe. A carnival atmosphere is expected at Emagumeni as Bosso fans welcome back their heroes, who won the battle of Zimbabwe in Harare on Monday.
Nichrut will be on the ropes from the first whistle, but those who watched the friendly match between the two sides in February will admit, the side are a stubborn lot.Madinda Ndlovu though poured water on the issue saying that Sunday’s encounter was a different ball game all together, as both teams were trying out different strategies in the friendly match.
Ozias Zibande will be out to maintain his scoring form and propel Bosso to their fourth victory of the season.
