Blood Tongue was back at the Bulawayo Theatre last night, but this time it is a musical. The Nhimbe Trust Production was premiered at the same venue last year and it has been shown at Masvingo’s Charles Austin Theatre, and the Artists Preserving Heritage Festival at the Emalahleni Civic Theatre, in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
The 1 hour long production will be showing in Harare for the next coming two days was written by award-winning Zimbabwean playwright and author, Christopher Mlalazi, directed by Bafana Dladla (SA) and Eunice Tava, with music composed by Bafana Dladla and Tshepo Pheko (SA) and arranged by Blessing Sitotombe, and scripted, edited and produced by Josh Nyapimbi.
The musical features Lady Tshawe who recently won the Outstanding Actress award for her role in the production at the Bulawayo Arts Awards, the musical also got a nomination in the Outstanding theatrical production category. The production stars Rea Moyo, Musa Sibanda and Bulawayo arts award nominee Agnes Ncube.
