On Friday the 29th of June at the Bulawayo Theatre, Urban Culxure had the opportunity to witness one of Bulawayo’s best performers do what they are exceptionally good at; and that is to perform. “An Evening with Hwabaraty” saw the star of the show catapult his career to another level with his well-orchestrated performances.

Hwabaraty stole the people’s hearts by belting out his hit songs Ama What What featuring Madlela Skhobokhobo, Istimela soThando featuring Ntando and Gaz’elimnyama and Woza nhlanhla which features the legendary Jeys Marabini.
It was Jeyz Marabini’s speech about the young artiste that really expressed the dedication that Hwabaraty has for his craft as a whole. In his speech, Jeyz said “It is rare to find such young talent that is willing to learn and be nurtured by those that have walked the path. Hwabaraty’s music is unique as he is able to mix the traditional folklore type of music with the modern feel that makes him standout from the rest of the people in the music industry.”
Although the attendance was low, the artiste gave a stellar performance that had the few revelers sing along and dance. His mood and performance did not dampen a bit as he sought to give out his best performance. His audience interaction was also nothing short of engaging. The stage set up created an artistic ambience that surely revealed that it was a well thought of idea. What was humbling was the presence of the legendary bass guitarist Hudson Simbarashe amongst the band members.
After the performance on the 29th of June, it is undeniable that Hwabaraty is a sellable brand that is capable of flying Bulawayo’s flag up high, let alone Zimbabwe.
