Indosakusa the Morning star formerly known as Impumelelo Shining Star last Friday launched their new album Indosakusa. The Isicathamiya group has 8 previous albums under the banner of Impumelelo Shining Stars and this becomes their debut album after rebranding in March of this year. The 8 member group comprises of Thembelani Ndlovu (bass), Innocent Sibanda (bass), Njabulo Moyo (bass), Mduduzi Moyo (bass), Atiambiwi Shoko (tenor), Alla Sibanda (alto), Kwanele Moyo (alto) and Osca Siziba (lead vocalist).
It was all dance and song throughout the show, with Nobuntu opening up the launch with a stellar performance. The group also took that chance to hint songs from their forthcoming album. The audience came to life when the all-female ensemble performed a song titled “OBabes beMbube”, which is also the title of their upcoming album.
The packed Bulawayo Theatre auditorium gave the launch event an electric atmosphere, with some of the audience having to stand and sit on the aisle. The euphoric crowd was very receptive to the new music despite its overbearing stage interference and subnormal sound at certain intervals. Not to pour water to the event, Indosakusa gave a well-orchestrated performance that was worth every penny of the entrance fee the audience had paid. In what can be considered a rare occurrence in Bulawayo some of the audience were throwing money on to the stage as a gesture of the great performance the group was dishing out.
The 13 track album comprises of songs such as Phalamende, Indosakusa and Stokfela eZion, which promises to be a banger with the Isicathamiya lovers. All the songs in the album were composed by lead vocalist Osca Siziba and most of them carry a gospel messages, a theme popular to the group. The traditional folklore story telling method is not neglected in this enticing collection. From the proceedings of Friday night, we can safely say that Indosakusa the Morning Star is definitely on the right course.
