The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) who are the organisers of the popular Harare International Carnival have postponed this year’s edition to a later date due to the cholera outbreak.
The 5th edition of the carnival was meant to take place from October 15-20 in Harare. ZTA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Karikoga Kaseke, said “The Harare International Carnival 2018 has been postponed to a later date to be advised. This is as a result of the ban on public gatherings by the Government of Zimbabwe which is still standing.”
Speaking at a press conference at New Ambassador Hotel in Harare this afternoon Dr. Karikoga Kaseke, the chief Executive of the ZTA also unveiled businessman and socialite Genius Kandungure as the carnival’s new brand ambassador till 2021. Ginimbi as he is affectionally by a number of Zimbabweans owns the elite Harare joint Club Sankayi.
The flamboyant businessman comes on board with his expertise in the entertainment industry and strategic networks which will aid in promoting the carnival to a wider audience. Ginimbi said he will work on making sure the carnival becomes a success.
