After two cities, two festivals and two comedy nights all in two days, one would assume MaForty is done for the year 2018. Alas! Do not be fooled, brace yourself for another rib cracking experience because he is already planning for bigger things to close off the year with. Dumisani Ndlovu popularly known by his trading name MaForty is already in gear for his one man show planned for this monthend of October.
All the achievements of this year have been nothing but a build up to MaForty’s one man show and roast dubbed “Maforty Press Conference”. The one man show scheduled for the 27th of October at Bulawayo theatre is the funny man’s second of his career. However this time it promises to be bigger and better as 2018 has been a soaring year for the brand Maforty.
During an interview MaForty said, “The promotional material for the One Man show is out. The show will also incorporate a Roast and the panel is already there, we will announce who it comprises of soon. I’m grateful to the sponsors that have come on board to make this event possible. So far the organisation leading to the event is shaping up and I’m happy with the progress my team and I are making.”
When asked on the issue of producing refreshing content he was quick to respond by saying “People should expect new material from me because I have collaborated with writers from near and as far as South Africa solely for the show. I have researched on a number of one man comedy shows and I want to bring that ‘par excellent bar’ that we only get to see with international acts.”
Last week on the 28th of September, the 2 time award winning comedian performed an impressive set at the Shoko Festival Comedy Night at Reps Theatre in Harare. The Shoko Festival slot came after winning the Simuka Top Comic Search last year. The next day he was back in his hometown for the Intwasa Arts Festival Comedy Night held at Divine Car Wash where he performed next to T1nda and Ezra Nyoni who were also nothing short of hilarious.
MaForty has been consistent during the year managing to perform every month since March and getting to win a Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards in May for being the Outstanding Newcomer. With such a great year it is no surprise that he wants to shut down the year in style.
