Bulawayo Chiefs claimed the bragging rights of he much awaited Bulawayo derby,after a narrow 1-0 victory over rivals Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Luveve Stadium yesterday.
Amakhosi Amahle skipper Gracious Mleya’s 47th minute hearder off a Malvin Mkolo cross was enough to seal off an important victory for the relegation threatened side. Chiefs moved up to position 11 with 35 point and getting some breathing space as the relegation battle hots up.
The Gamecocks however suffered a major blow in their quest to finish second.They remained third on the standings with 54 points, 6 points ahead of fourth placed Triangle who have a game in hand.
Chiefs will host bottom placed side Shabanie Mine in mid-week clash at Luveve stadium,while Chicken Inn face a mammoth task as they travel to Zvishavane to face championship favourites FC Platinum at Mandava.
