Zimbabwe has been ranked third in the world-renowned travel guide Lonely Planet’s top countries to visit next year. Sri Lanka claimed the top spot with Germany being second.
“Zimbabwe has been described as one of Africa’s safest destinations, it is one blessed with ultra-friendly locals, Big Five-filled national parks, World Heritage-listed archaeological ruins, forested mountains and, of course, the mighty Victoria Falls,” reads the Lonely Planet website.
Taking the number one spot in the best cities list is Copenhagen, Denmark, a city that editors refer to as the “capital of cool” for being notably a design and gastronomic powerhouse. Shenzhen, China, and Novi Sad, Serbia, round out the top three.
When it comes to determining the world’s best destinations, there is literally a world full of possibilities to be explored. But Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel report is based on the nominations of editors, researchers, locals and influencers.
