Following the success of the 2017 and 2018 award ceremonies, the Bulawayo Arts Awards are back for the third edition bigger and better on their quest to celebrate outstanding efforts of Bulawayo arts excellence.
The 2019 Bulawayo Arts Awards was launched this evening at Bulawayo Theatre with the award ceremony slated for June 29 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) hall 4.
This year’s awards maintained the 12 categories and also announced 5 new awards.The new additions include Outstanding Music Producer, Outstanding Arts Personality from outside of Bulawayo,Outstanding Choral Music Group, Outstanding Arts Educator (Primary School) and Outstanding Artist in the Community.
One of the event organisers Simon “Mambazo” Phiri highlighted that the ceremony needed a total of $110K for all services and facilities to run smoothly in this year’s edition. The organisers also took time to announce that United Refineries will continue to support the ceremony and have injected a $55 000. This automatically means that the awards will maintain the name ROIL BULAWAYO ARTS AWARDS.
Tickets for the ceremony go on sale on Monday 18th March and the prices are pegged at $15 VVIP, $10 VIP and $5 general (all prices being in US dollars or equivalent).
Nominations have opened to the public and will close on May 1 2019. Nominees will be announced on May 31 and voting will close June 26.
