Ezimnyama Dance Ensemble was on Saturday crowned Bulawayo provincial winners of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance competition which took place at Manor Hotel in Bulawayo.
The Matshobana based outfit outclassed seven other dance groups to clinch this year’s Chibuku Neshamwari traditional dance Bulawayo provincial competition.
The group walked away with ZWL$1 000 and a ticket to represent the province at the grand finale in Kadoma on August 10. Unlenje dance crew came second and went home ZWL$800 richer, while all female ensemble Bambanani came third and pocketed ZWL$600. All participating groups won ZWL$400 each.
The clearly ecstatic Ezimnyama Dance Ensemble director Phibion Ncube shared his hope for the group emerging as the best at the finals.
The group presented “setapa“ a dance which originates from Botswana, has been beefed up the group with new faces that graduated from the junior ensemble.
In 2017 Ezimnyama won the provincial finals before the group went on to win the national finals held at White City Stadium in Bulawayo. Last year Bulawayo was represented by Khaya Arts at the national finals held in Mutare.
