LitFest is doing a workshop from the 15th to the 21st of this Month at varying venues across the country. The workshops will focus on performance poetry, with both topics on writing and performance being covered.
The workshops will be carried out in Masvingo, Bulawayo, Gweru and Mutare, with mentors including Philani A. Nyoni, Elizabeth Muchemwa, Chirikure Chirikure (Festival Director) and Kudzanai Thondhlana.
LitFest team will start with Gweru on Tuesday 15 October; Bulawayo 17 October, Masvingo 19 October and Mutare 21 October. The circuit will be repeated again by international mentors who would have participated in the LitFest literature festival in Harare. Festival runs 27 – 30 November in Harare.
Speaking on behalf of LitFest, Philani Nyoni highlighted that the main objective of the workshops is to help sharpen the skills and talents that would otherwise end up disappearing because of the limited opportunities that are there for mentorship in Zimbabwe. He further added that “The creative sector is a huge employment base that needs constant cultivation to reach higher levels.”
In Bulawayo, the programme runs from 10am to 2pm on Thursday the 17th at the Nust American Space.
