Zanu PF MP in horrific accident

Zanu PF officials came face-to-face with the country’s critical shortage of working ambulances at district hospitals this Sunday afternoon when they were involved in a horror accident in the Midlands Province.

Details are still sketchy, but Crime Watch Zimbabwe reports that a ruling party legislator and the Zanu PF Mberengwa District chairperson identified as Machara are among the injured.

Others include at least two women officials of the ruling party.

The reports say that Zanu PF legislator for Mberengwa South, Tasara Hungwe, was badly injured when the party-branded vehicle he was driving flipped over. He is reportedly admitted at Zvishavane Hospital as are the others.

“The Mberengwa District staffers had their truck roll over, landing on its roof amid reports the driver lost control,” said an eyewitness Tapuwa Shumba, who was one of the first responders.

He added that the ruling party officials were taken to hospital on the back of another party truck called by one of the injured officials after failing to secure an ambulance.

“All the injured were taken to Zvishavane Hospital, thanks to another Zanu PF truck which was called to save the situation as there was no available ambulance.

“Imagine a situation where there was no working ambulance within a 100km radius of Mberengwa,” said Shumba.

Zimbabwe faces a critical shortage of health resources including medication.
